Critical Value Calculator | Quick & Accurate

This tool will help you find the critical value for your statistical data.

How to use the Critical Value Calculator

This calculator helps you find the critical value for given inputs. To use the calculator, simply follow these steps:

  1. Enter the mean (μ) of your sample data.
  2. Enter the standard deviation (σ) of your sample data.
  3. Enter the sample size (n).
  4. Select the desired confidence level (90%, 95%, or 99%).
  5. Click the “Calculate” button to see the result.

How It Works

The calculator computes the margin of error and then uses it to find the confidence interval for your sample data. The critical value is calculated using the following steps:

  1. Determine the z-score corresponding to the selected confidence level.
  2. Calculate the margin of error using the formula: z-score * (σ / √n)
  3. Find the lower and upper limits of the confidence interval by adding and subtracting the margin of error from the mean.

Limitations

While this calculator can provide a quick and easy way to find critical values, it has the following limitations:

  • It assumes a normally distributed population.
  • Results may be inaccurate for extremely small sample sizes.
  • Only three specific confidence levels (90%, 95%, 99%) are supported.
