This tool helps you calculate your character’s hit points in Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition.
How to Use the Hit Point Calculator 5e
To calculate the hit points (HP) of your character in Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, follow these steps:
- Enter your character’s level (1 to 20).
- Enter your character’s hit die (e.g., enter 8 if your hit die is a d8).
- Enter your character’s constitution modifier.
- Click on the ‘Calculate’ button to see the total hit points.
How It Calculates the Results
The calculator uses the following formula:
- Initial Hit Points at level 1: Hit Die + Constitution Modifier
- For subsequent levels, the hit points added per level are: (Average roll for the Hit Die) + Constitution Modifier
- The average roll for the Hit Die is calculated as: floor(Hit Die / 2) + 1
Limitations
The calculator assumes:
- Character levels range between 1 and 20.
- Hit Die is a standard die type (d4, d6, d8, d10, or d12), with the value between 4 and 12 and is an even number.
- The Constitution Modifier is correctly calculated and entered by the user.
