Find the Zeros of the Function Calculator | Fast Solutions

This tool helps you find the zeros of any given function quickly and easily.

How to Use the Find the Zeros of the Function Calculator

This calculator helps you find the zeros (roots) of a quadratic function of the form ax² + bx + c = 0. To use the calculator, enter the coefficients ‘a’, ‘b’, and ‘c’ into the respective input fields and click the “Calculate” button.

How It Calculates the Results

The calculator uses the quadratic formula: x = [-b ± sqrt(b² – 4ac)] / 2a. It first calculates the discriminant (b² – 4ac). Based on the value of the discriminant:

  • If the discriminant is greater than zero, there are two real roots.
  • If the discriminant is equal to zero, there is one real root.
  • If the discriminant is less than zero, there are no real roots.

Limitations

This calculator only works for quadratic equations (degree 2). Ensure that the coefficients entered are valid numbers. If you enter non-numeric values or leave any field empty, the calculator will prompt you to enter valid numbers.
