This tool calculates the estimated cost and amount of paint needed for your painting project.

How to Use the Painting Estimate Calculator

To use this calculator, simply fill in all the required fields:

  • Length: The length of the room in feet.
  • Width: The width of the room in feet.
  • Height: The height of the room in feet.
  • Number of Doors: The total number of doors in the room.
  • Number of Windows: The total number of windows in the room.
  • Cost Per Sq Ft: The cost of painting per square foot.
  • Door Area: The average area of one door (default is 21 sq ft).
  • Window Area: The average area of one window (default is 12 sq ft).

After filling all the fields, click the “Calculate” button to get the painting cost estimate in the “Result” field.

How It Calculates the Results

The calculator uses the given inputs to calculate the total wall area to be painted:

  • Wall Area = 2 * Height * (Length + Width)
  • Door Area = Number of Doors * Door Area
  • Window Area = Number of Windows * Window Area
  • Total Paintable Area = Wall Area – Door Area – Window Area
  • Estimated Cost = Total Paintable Area * Cost Per Sq Ft

Limitations

The current calculator has the following limitations:

  • It assumes all doors and windows have the same area.
  • It does not account for any architectural elements or fixtures.
  • It does not take into ceiling painting costs.
