How to Use the Stock Average Calculator
To use this calculator, enter the number of shares you already own and the current average price of those shares where indicated. Then, input the number of new shares you have purchased and the price of those new shares. Once all fields are filled, click the “Calculate” button to get your new average share price.
How the Calculator Works
The calculator takes the total cost of your existing shares (by multiplying the number of shares by the average price) and adds it to the total cost of new shares purchased. It then divides the combined total cost by the new total number of shares to provide the updated average price per share.
