This calculator will help you determine the power level of your EDH/Commander deck. To get an estimate, please fill out the form with the appropriate values for your deck’s configuration.
How to Use the Calculator
Enter the following details:
- Average CMC: The average converted mana cost (CMC) of your deck.
- Number of Win Conditions: The total number of cards that can independently win the game.
- Number of Interaction Pieces: The total number of spells that can disrupt opponents’ plans (counterspells, removal, etc.).
- Number of Card Advantage Sources: The total number of cards that can generate additional card advantage.
- Commander Tier: Select whether your commander is considered high, medium, or low tier.
After inputting these values, click “Calculate” to display the power level of your deck. It is scored out of 100, with a higher score indicating a stronger deck.
How the Results are Calculated
The power level of your deck is calculated based on the combination of the following components:
- Lower average CMC contributes to a higher deck power level.
- A greater number of win conditions increases the deck’s power level.
- Having more interaction pieces contributes positively to the power level.
- More sources of card advantage add to the power level.
- The tier of the commander influences the power level with High contributing more points than Low.
The formula is balanced to ensure that a cumulative power level does not exceed 100. Note that this calculator is a tool for estimation and does not guarantee the precise competitiveness of your deck in every play group.
Limitations of the Calculator
This calculator uses a simple heuristic approach to estimate deck power level. It does not account for synergies between cards, the specific metagame it will be played in, or the individual piloting the deck. Therefore, use the result as a basic guideline rather than an absolute measure of a deck’s potential performance.
