Maryland Alimony Calculator

This calculator helps estimate the potential alimony payments between spouses in Maryland. It takes into account the annual income of both individuals, their ages, health status, and the duration of the marriage.

How to Use

Enter the following information into the fields provided:

  • Annual income of the alimony payer
  • Annual income of the alimony recipient
  • Number of years married
  • Health status of both the payer and recipient on a scale from 1 to 10
  • Age of both the payer and recipient

Once all the information is filled in, click the “Calculate” button to see the estimated yearly alimony payment.

How It Calculates the Result

The calculator uses the following formula:

  • Base Alimony = (Income of Payer – Income of Recipient) x 0.3
  • If both payer and recipient are over 50 years old, an age factor of 1.2 is applied.
  • If either party has a health status below 5, a health factor of 0.8 is applied.
  • If the marriage lasted more than 10 years, a years factor of 1.5 is applied.

The final alimony amount is computed as follows: Base Alimony x Age Factor x Health Factor x Years Factor.

Limitations

This calculator provides an estimate only. The actual alimony awarded by the court may consider additional factors and may vary from the calculated result. Always consult legal advice for a more accurate assessment.
