DASI Score – Easy Calculator Tool

This tool helps you easily calculate your Duke Activity Status Index (DASI) score to assess your functional capacity.

How to Use the DASI Score Calculator

This calculator is designed to help you estimate your Duke Activity Status Index (DASI) score, which is used to assess your physical fitness and activity level.

To use the calculator, please follow these steps:

  1. Enter your age in years.
  2. Enter the average number of miles you walk or run per week.
  3. Enter the average number of flights of stairs you climb each day.
  4. Enter the average number of hours you engage in vigorous physical activities per week.
  5. Enter your resting heart rate (in beats per minute).
  6. Click the “Calculate” button to get your DASI score.

How It Calculates the Results

The DASI score is calculated by taking into account your age, physical activities, and resting heart rate. The formula used is a simplified approach that combines these factors to provide a score:

  • Age: contributes to the score by multiplying age by 0.1.
  • Miles walked/run per week: adds to the score by multiplying by 0.2.
  • Number of flights climbed: adds to the score by multiplying by 0.3.
  • Hours of vigorous activity: adds to the score by multiplying by 0.4.
  • Resting heart rate: contributes negatively to the score by using (200 – resting heart rate) multiplied by 0.5.

Limitations

The DASI score is an estimate and not a definitive measure of fitness. It provides a rough idea based on self-reported data and should not replace professional fitness assessments. Variables such as individual health conditions and lifestyle factors can affect the accuracy of the score.
