RREF Calculator – Instant Reduced Row Echelon Form Solutions

Use our rref calculator to quickly reduce matrices to row-echelon form and solve linear equations with ease.

RREF Calculator

How to Use the Calculator

To use the RREF calculator, input the entries of your matrix into the text area above. Each row of the matrix should be separated by a semicolon (;), and each entry within a row should be separated by a comma (,). After inputting your matrix, click the ‘Calculate’ button to obtain the reduced row echelon form (RREF) of the matrix.

How It Works

The calculator converts your input into a matrix and applies a series of elementary row operations to transform the matrix into its reduced row echelon form. This involves creating leading 1’s, also known as pivot elements, in each row and ensuring that all elements above and below the pivot are zeros. The result is displayed in the result field, with entries still separated by commas and rows by semicolons.

Limitations

This calculator is designed for educational purposes and is not optimized for very large matrices or those with complex numbers. Also, some matrices may not have a well-defined RREF or may lead to rounding errors in the calculation process. It is recommended to use this for small to moderately-sized matrices where exact arithmetic is possible.
