Asphalt Calculator – Estimate Material Quantities Needed

Use this asphalt calculator tool to accurately estimate the amount of asphalt you’ll need for your paving project.

Asphalt Calculator

How to Use the Asphalt Calculator

Enter the length and width of the area you wish to pave with asphalt, as well as the desired thickness of the asphalt layer, in inches. Click the “Calculate” button, and the calculator will compute the total volume in cubic feet, convert this volume to metric tons, and display the result.

How the Calculator Works

The calculator converts the thickness from inches to feet and multiplies length by width by thickness to get the volume in cubic feet. Then it multiplies the volume by the average weight of asphalt per cubic foot. Finally, it converts this weight to metric tons for the final result.

Limitations

This calculator assumes a uniform thickness and does not account for irregularities in the base or compaction. Variations in local material weights can also affect accuracy. The result is an estimate and should be verified by a professional before use.
