Beam Calculator: Accurate Load Analysis & Design Support

Use our beam calculator to accurately determine the strength and deflection of your structural beams under various loads.

Beam Calculator

This calculator helps you to estimate the bending moment of a beam subjected to a central load. Enter the width, height, load, and length of the beam to get the result. Please ensure that you enter all measurements in meters and the load in kiloNewtons (kN).

How to use:

  1. Enter the width of the beam (in meters).
  2. Enter the height of the beam (in meters).
  3. Enter the load applied to the beam (in kN).
  4. Enter the length of the beam on which the load is applied (in meters).
  5. Click the “Calculate” button to see the result.

How it calculates:

The calculator estimates the bending moment using the formula: M = (P * L^2) / 8, where M is the bending moment in kiloNewton-meters (kNm), P is the load in kiloNewtons (kN), and L is the length in meters.

Limitations:

The calculator assumes a simply supported beam with a central point load. It does not take into account factors such as beam fixed support, distributed loads, or complex loading scenarios. It should be used for estimation purposes only and not to replace detailed structural analysis.
