This calculator helps you determine the boiling point of water based on various environmental factors such as altitude, atmospheric pressure, weather conditions, and ambient temperature.

How to Use the Calculator:

  1. Enter the altitude in meters above sea level.
  2. Input the current atmospheric pressure in mmHg.
  3. Specify the weather condition as either “clear” or “cloudy”.
  4. Provide the ambient temperature in degrees Celsius (°C).
  5. Click on the “Calculate” button to get the boiling point of water under the specified conditions.

How It Calculates the Results:

The boiling point of water decreases with an increase in altitude and varies with atmospheric pressure and ambient temperature. The calculator uses the following adjustments to estimate the boiling point:

  • The boiling point decreases by 1°C for every 300 meters above sea level.
  • It adjusts the boiling point based on the difference between standard atmospheric pressure (1013 mmHg) and the current pressure.
  • It further adjusts the result based on ambient temperature.
  • An additional small adjustment is made for cloudy weather conditions.

Limitations:

This calculator provides an estimate and may not be perfectly accurate due to the following limitations:

  • Environmental factors such as humidity are not considered.
  • The adjustments for weather and temperature are simplified and may not capture complex variations.
  • Rounding error may slightly affect the results.
