Cord Calculator: Determine Your Firewood Needs

This tool helps you easily calculate the amount of firewood you need in cords.

How to Use the Cord Calculator

This cord calculator helps you determine the volume of wood you have in cords. A cord is a stack of wood that is 4 feet wide, 4 feet high, and 8 feet long (128 cubic feet).

Instructions:

  1. Enter the dimensions of the wood stack in the respective Length, Width, and Height fields in feet.
  2. Ensure the numbers entered are accurate to get a precise calculation.
  3. Click the “Calculate” button to find out the volume in cords.

How It Calculates the Result

The calculator multiplies the Length, Width, and Height to get the total volume in cubic feet. Then, it divides this volume by 128 (since one cord is 128 cubic feet) to get the volume in cords.

Limitations

Please note that this calculator assumes that the wood is stacked neatly without any gaps. Real-life stacks often have voids and may not be perfectly rectangular, which can affect the accuracy of the calculated volume.
