How It Calculates the Results

The calculator uses the Harris-Benedict equation to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), which is the number of calories your body needs at rest. Your BMR is then adjusted based on your activity level to estimate your Maintenance Calories, which are the calories you need to maintain your current weight.

Finally, the calculator adjusts your maintenance calories by the caloric equivalent of your weight loss goal to give you your target daily caloric intake. One kilogram of body weight is approximately equivalent to 7700 calories, so your caloric deficit goal is calculated as (goal in kg/week * 7700) calories per week.
