Dehumidifier Size Calculator: Find the Perfect Fit

This tool calculates the ideal dehumidifier size for your room based on its dimensions and humidity level.

How to Use the Dehumidifier Size Calculator

Fill out the form with the relevant details about the room you need a dehumidifier for:

  • Area (sq ft): Enter the total square foot area of the room.
  • Current Humidity (%): Enter the current humidity level in the room.
  • Desired Humidity (%): Enter the humidity level you want to achieve.
  • Ceiling Height (ft): Enter the ceiling height in feet (default is 8 ft).
  • Room Type: Select the type of room from the dropdown list.
  • Climate Type: Select the type of climate you live in from the dropdown list.

Once all fields are filled, click the “Calculate” button to determine the size of the dehumidifier you need. The result will be displayed in the Result field.

How It Calculates the Results

The dehumidifier size calculator uses the following information to estimate the size of the dehumidifier needed:

  • The volume of the room in cubic feet, which is calculated by multiplying the area by the ceiling height.
  • The difference between the current and desired humidity levels.
  • The type of room, as different rooms have different moisture production levels.
  • The climate type, as places with higher humidity require more powerful dehumidifiers.

It uses these parameters to calculate the amount of moisture that needs to be removed from the air per day, which determines the capacity of the dehumidifier needed (measured in pints per day).

Limitations

While this calculator provides a good estimate for the size of the dehumidifier you need, there are limitations:

  • It does not account for extreme conditions such as floods or leaks.
  • Special conditions, such as the presence of multiple occupants or significant sources of moisture (e.g., fish tanks), may require a larger dehumidifier.
