This drug half-life calculator will help you estimate how long it takes for a drug to reduce to half its initial amount in your body.
Drug Half-Life Calculator
How to Use the Calculator
Enter the initial dose of the drug in milligrams (mg), the half-life of the drug in hours, and the amount of time that has passed since the drug was taken in hours. Press “Calculate” to determine the remaining dose of the drug in your body.
How It Works
The calculator uses the formula C = C0 * (1/2)^(t/h)
, where C
is the remaining concentration of the drug, C0
is the initial concentration, t
is time elapsed, and h
is the half-life of the drug. The resulting concentration is given in milligrams.
Limitations
This calculator assumes that the drug in question follows first-order kinetics and that the half-life remains constant over the time frame given. It may not be accurate for drugs with non-linear kinetics or drugs that induce or inhibit their own metabolism.
