FPE Calculator: Accurate Flame Propagation Evaluation Online

This FPE (Foot-Pound Energy) calculator tool will quickly compute the kinetic energy of a moving object based on its mass and velocity.

Fire Performance Equivalency Calculator

This calculator helps you estimate the Fire Performance Equivalency (FPE) for a multi-story building. FPE is a measure used to ensure that buildings have consistent fire resistance across all levels.

How to Use the Calculator

Input the total number of floors in your building, the square footage of the ground floor, the square footage of the upper floor(s), and the average height per floor (in feet). Then click “Calculate” to get the estimated FPE.

How It Calculates Results

The calculator computes the volume of the building by multiplying the combined square footage of all floors by the average height per floor. The FPE is then calculated by dividing the total volume by the combined square footage of all floors, giving a ratio of volume to surface area.

Limitations

This calculator assumes that all upper floors have the same square footage and does not account for structures with varying floor sizes or complex geometries. It also does not replace detailed fire safety evaluation by professionals and is provided for preliminary assessment only.
