How to Use the FTP Calculator
You can easily use this FTP (Functional Threshold Power) calculator to determine your cycling performance. Simply enter your weight in kilograms in the first field and your average power output in watts in the second field. Then, click on “Calculate” to see your Functional Threshold Power per kilogram (W/kg).
How It Calculates
The calculator takes the average power output (in watts) that you can maintain for an hour and divides it by your body weight in kilograms. The result is your FTP expressed as watts per kilogram (W/kg), which represents your cycling fitness level.
Limitations
This calculator assumes that the input power output is a sustainable average for a one hour period, which might not be accurate for all individuals. It is also a simplified estimation of FTP because there are more comprehensive tests to measure this metric accurately, such as direct power meter measurements during a 60-minute effort or via shorter testing protocol that estimates the 60-minute performance.
