Mini Split Size Calculator: Find Your Perfect HVAC Fit

Use this mini split size calculator to quickly determine the appropriate air conditioning capacity for your room.

How to Use the Mini Split Size Calculator

To use the calculator, please fill in the room dimensions (width, length, and ceiling height), the number of windows and occupants, and if there are significant heat-generating appliances in the room. Once all fields are filled in, click the “Calculate” button to see the recommended BTUs per hour needed for your room.

How It Calculates

The calculator determines the total BTUs per hour needed based on the size of the room, the number of windows which allow sunlight into the room, the number of occupants, and whether or not there are any significant heat-generating appliances. The standard calculation is area in square feet multiplied by 25 BTU, which assumes a standard room height and usage.

Limitations of the Calculator

This calculator is simplified and does not account for factors such as insulation quality, amount of sunlight, ceiling height variations, and other factors which can influence the cooling requirements of a space. It provides an estimate based on general assumptions, and a professional assessment is recommended for accurate sizing.
