Sheet Metal Calculator – Accurate Metal Measurements

This tool helps you quickly calculate sheet metal specifications for your projects.

Sheet Metal Calculator

This tool calculates the weight of sheet metal based on the specified parameters. Please fill in the form fields:

  • Metal Type: Select the type of metal (Steel, Aluminum, Copper).
  • Thickness (mm): Enter the thickness of the sheet metal in millimeters.
  • Width (mm): Enter the width of the sheet metal in millimeters.
  • Length (mm): Enter the length of the sheet metal in millimeters.
  • Quantity: Enter the number of sheets.

Once all fields are filled, click on the “Calculate” button to see the estimated weight in kilograms.

How It Works

The calculator uses the following densities for the metals:

  • Steel: 7.85 g/cm³
  • Aluminum: 2.70 g/cm³
  • Copper: 8.96 g/cm³

The inputs are converted from millimeters to centimeters, and the volume of the sheet metal is calculated. The volume is multiplied by the density to determine the weight in grams. Finally, the weight is converted to kilograms for the result.

Limitations

This calculator assumes uniform thickness and ignores the effects of any coatings or finishes. Please ensure all dimensions and quantities are accurate to get a reliable result.

Use Cases for This Calculator

Calculating Sheet Metal Weight

Calculate the weight of sheet metal based on its dimensions, material type, and thickness. Input the length, width, thickness, and material density to get the total weight.

Estimating Sheet Metal Cost

Estimate the cost of sheet metal based on its weight, material price per unit weight, and any additional expenses. Input the weight, material price, and extras to get the total cost.

Determining Sheet Metal Bend Allowance

Determine the bend allowance for sheet metal based on material type, thickness, bend angle, and inside radius. Input the material details and bend specifications to calculate the bend allowance accurately.

Converting Sheet Metal Gauge to Thickness

Convert sheet metal gauge to thickness in inches or millimeters for accurate measurements. Input the gauge number and select the unit to convert to get the corresponding thickness.
