Solubility Calculator – Instantly Find Substance Solubility

This solubility calculator helps you easily determine the solubility of a substance in different solvents.

How to Use the Solubility Calculator

  1. Enter the mass of the solute (in grams) in the first input field.
  2. Enter the volume of the solvent (in liters) in the second input field.
  3. Enter the temperature (in degrees Celsius) in the third input field.
  4. Enter the solubility constant (in grams per liter) in the fourth input field.
  5. Click the “Calculate” button to find out if the solute will completely dissolve in the solvent.
  6. The result will indicate whether the solute will completely dissolve and, if not, the maximum amount of solute that can dissolve will be displayed.

How It Calculates the Results

The calculator uses a direct proportional relationship between the solubility constant and the solvent volume to determine the maximum mass of solute that can dissolve in the solvent at the given temperature. Specifically, the formula used is:

Maximum Soluble Mass = Solubility Constant (g/L) * Solvent Volume (L)

If the mass of the solute provided is less than or equal to the maximum soluble mass, the solute will completely dissolve. Otherwise, it will not.

Limitations

  • This calculator assumes a simple direct proportional relationship and does not take into account complex factors like ionic strength, pH, or specific solute-solvent interactions.
  • The solubility constant is assumed to be provided at the given temperature, and this relationship may change with varying temperatures.
  • Only works with completely specified numerical values and does not handle cases of input validation beyond basic numerical checks.
