This tool calculates the estimated amount of spousal support based on your inputs.
This spousal support calculator helps you estimate the amount of monthly spousal support one might be entitled to receive or expected to pay based on several key factors.
How to Use the Calculator:
- Enter the annual income of the payor spouse.
- Enter the annual income of the recipient spouse.
- Enter the number of years you were married.
- Enter the number of dependent children (if any).
- Enter the expected cost of living adjustment (default is 2%).
- Click on Calculate to see the estimated monthly spousal support amount.
How it Calculates Results:
The calculator uses a formula that considers the income difference between spouses, the duration of the marriage, and the number of dependent children. The base support amount is calculated as 30% of the income difference, adjusted for the number of years married (up to a maximum of 20 years or 60%). Additionally, having dependent children increases the base support amount. The final support amount is adjusted for the cost of living percentage and displayed as a monthly figure.
Limitations:
Note that this calculator provides an estimate only. Actual spousal support determinations can be affected by various other factors not considered here, such as specific jurisdictional guidelines, the financial needs and circumstances of both parties, and judicial discretion.
