SWP Calculator: Plan Your Systematic Withdrawal

This tool helps you calculate regular withdrawals from a retirement corpus with ease.

How to Use the SWP Calculator

To use this calculator, fill in the following fields:

  • Initial Investment Amount: Enter the amount you initially invest.
  • Monthly Withdrawal Amount: Enter the amount you plan to withdraw every month.
  • Annual Rate of Return: Enter the expected annual rate of return on your investment.
  • Withdrawal Period: Enter the desired withdrawal period in years.
Once all fields are filled, click the “Calculate” button to view the results.

How the SWP Calculator Works

The calculator first converts the annual rate of return to a monthly rate of return. The calculator then increments one month at a time, updating the fund value by applying the monthly return to the current fund value and then subtracting the monthly withdrawal amount. This process continues until the withdrawal period is completed or the fund value drops to zero, whichever comes first.

Limitations

  • This calculator assumes a constant monthly return, which may not reflect actual investment performance.
  • The actual value of the fund may vary due to market fluctuations, fees, taxes, and other factors not accounted for in this simple model.
  • The calculator assumes that withdrawals are made at the end of each month.
