Use this calculator to determine the volume of a solid formed by revolving a function or shape around an axis.
Volume of Solid of Revolution Calculator
Use this calculator to compute the volume of a solid of revolution.
How to Use the Calculator
Enter the function f(x) you would like to revolve around the x-axis. Then, input the lower bound (a) and the upper bound (b) of the interval over which you want to calculate the volume. Choose the number of steps (n), which determines the accuracy of the approximation. Once all fields are filled, press “Calculate”.
How the Calculator Works
This calculator uses the Disk Method to approximate the volume by summing up the volumes of infinitesimally thin disks. It integrates the area of circular cross-sections from x = a to x = b.
Limitations
The accuracy of the result depends on the number of steps (n). A higher number will yield a more accurate result, but it requires more computation. Also, the function f(x) must be continuous on the interval [a, b].
