Wind Load Calculator | Accurate Wind Pressure Analysis

This tool will help you calculate the wind load on a structure based on specified input parameters.

Wind Load Calculator

This wind load calculator computes the wind load on a structure based on its dimensions, wind speed, and other factors. Simply fill in the height and width of your structure, the wind speed, select the exposure category, and provide the importance and gust factors.

How to Use the Calculator

  1. Enter the height of the structure in meters.
  2. Enter the width of the structure in meters.
  3. Enter the design wind speed in meters per second.
  4. Select the appropriate exposure category from the drop-down menu.
  5. Enter the importance factor (typically ranges from 0.87 to 1.15).
  6. Enter the gust factor (ranges from 1.0 to 1.5).
  7. Click on “Calculate” to get the wind load in Newtons (N).

Explanation of the Wind Load Calculation

The wind load is calculated using the formula:

Wind Load = Wind Pressure * Area

Where the wind pressure is computed as:

Wind Pressure = 0.613 * (Wind Speed)^2 * Exposure Factor * Importance Factor * Gust Factor

The area is simply the height multiplied by the width of the structure. The exposure factor takes into account the terrain and surrounding structures.

Limitations

While this calculator gives a general idea of the wind load, it is a simplified model and may not include all factors necessary for detailed structural engineering calculations. Consult with a structural engineer for a more comprehensive analysis tailored to your specific situation.
