How It Calculates:

Words: The calculator counts a sequence of characters surrounded by whitespace as a word.
Sentences: The calculator identifies sentences by punctuation marks (period, exclamation mark, question mark) followed by a space or end of text.
Paragraphs: Paragraphs are determined by newline characters. If no newline characters are found and the text contains content, it counts as one paragraph.
Characters: Characters are counted including spaces and punctuation. There is also a count for characters excluding spaces.

Limitations:
