Results:

This calculator estimates your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and daily calorie needs based on your weight, height, age, gender, and physical activity level.

How to Use the Calculator

To use the calculator, fill in all the fields with your personal data:

  • Weight in pounds (lbs).
  • Height in inches (in).
  • Age in years.
  • Select your gender.
  • Select your activity level from the provided options.

After filling in all the fields, click the “Calculate” button. The results section will display your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and daily calorie needs to maintain your current weight based on your activity level.

How it Calculates the Results

The calculator uses the Harris-Benedict equation to calculate the Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). The BMR is then adjusted based on the activity level to estimate your daily calorie needs:

  • The Harris-Benedict equations are:
    • For men: BMR = 66 + (6.3 * weight) + (12.9 * height) – (6.8 * age)
    • For women: BMR = 655 + (4.3 * weight) + (4.7 * height) – (4.7 * age)
  • Activity levels and their multipliers:
    • Sedentary: BMR * 1.2
    • Lightly active: BMR * 1.375
    • Moderately active: BMR * 1.55
    • Active: BMR * 1.725
    • Very active: BMR * 1.9

Limitations

Note that this calculator provides an estimate based on average values and does not take into account specific metabolic conditions or illnesses. It is always best to consult a nutritionist or a healthcare professional for personalized advice.
