This scope ring height calculator tool will help you determine the appropriate ring height required to mount your scope on a firearm for optimal alignment and clearance.
Scope Ring Height Calculator
How to Use the Scope Ring Height Calculator
1. Enter the diameter of the objective lens of your scope in millimeters (mm).
2. Enter the mount base height, also provided in millimeters (mm).
3. Enter the bolt diameter, which is the diameter of the rifle bolt if applicable, in millimeters (mm).
4. Enter the action diameter, the diameter of the rifle’s action area, also in millimeters (mm).
5. Click the “Calculate” button to get the recommended scope ring height.
How It Calculates
The calculator takes the entered objective lens diameter and divides it by two to find the radius of the scope. It then takes the radius of the bolt and the action from the provided diameters. The scope ring height is the difference between the scope radius and the combined heights of the mount base and half the bolt diameter, which must clear the action radius.
Limitations
This calculator assumes cylindrical shapes and does not account for non-uniform or slanted shapes of the mount base, bolt, or action. Ensure all measurements are taken at their highest points for accuracy. The calculator does not accommodate extra space for flip-up lens covers or additional accessories.
